USA No Longer A Superpower? Europe Refuses To Face Own Crisis

It is a global economy. Judging from comments from European and South American leaders, the world is moved only by those with a US passport. Let the global pile on begin. Glass houses?

I have no doubts in the American work ethic. In a time of continued outsourcing of American jobs, i.e. call centers, we see other countries just can’t handle the workload of a typical US citizen. Indian citizens are realizing the stresses associated with the American drive. The French don’t even try to keep up. The Russians couldn’t get a handle on the whole “capitalism” thing and are reverting to communist ideologies. China is realizing that not only do you have to create the goods, you have to do it the right way. The South Americans once again yearn for the days of the Sandinista. The Germans sit on the world sidelines and criticize while offering nothing towards the war in Afghanistan or the globe as a whole. The Austrians seem to think the only response to liberal socialism is Nazi style right wingers. The British are still, well, British.

What does all this mean for the USA. Not a damn thing. Looking at the facts, Americans are much better suited to handle the challenges the world throws at them. While Europe and the rest of the world search once again for the flavor of the week ideology, Americans stick to their guns (literally),

The current Economic crisis is not a symptom of a failure of capitalism, it is an indictment of the injection of Euro-socialism into the free market. While investors have been hurt by poor lending practices, how many truly were vested in the banking industry? Any smart investor got out of those funds 3 years ago.

What will the American response be? We will get a second job, we will work longer and harder. It is what we were built for. We still know how to make a buck. Time has proven that capitalism drives invention and personal accomplishment, and socialism drives entitlements and laziness. No wonder the world is scared.

This is a global economy. The world bears the responsibility for the credit crunch, and will be punished equally. All things being equal, who would you put your money on? When the “fit hit the shan”, the world didn’t shift their investments to Chinese T-bills, or Russian, British, French, Brazilian, German, Italian, and so on. No they put their money where it was safe, American T-Bills. Why? If America is indeed falling, why bet on the future of America? The answer is, we are still the best place to invest. We are still the hardest working, most innovative, creative, resilient, stalwart, hard nosed country ever to grace this planet. All those claiming otherwise with their mouths, are still voting with their wallet. This is a world storm, my house is strong.

“Those who do not want to be partakers of the American spirit ought not to settle in America”

Calvin Coolidge
